The doctor’s diagnoses that Lee Wah needs an operation, which she refuses as she has nothing to look forward to in life. Kin nurses her back to a more positive attitude. In order to attend to Lee Wah, Kin has neglected Cho Kwan. Though displeased, Cho Kwan does not reveal her feelings to Kin. Hong invests all he has in the stock market, which collapses in the global crash in 1987. Having lost all he has, Hong collaborates with Hing to kidnap his own son, and demands a ransom. Sai Bond unwillingly agrees to pay a ransom after dyeing them. Hong and Hing gel hold of the ransom, but bump into the police when they are leaving. Hong escapes.
